  • Complete worksheet you were given on Tuesday the 31st of January. This piece of homework is due to Friday the 3rd of February.

In Literacy: Re-read at home chapter 6 of our focus book. Discuss ‘the letters’ with your parents, siblings or friends at home. Consider: How do they change as time goes on? Why do you think this is?

Spellings: Revise spellings given last week and practise additionally 5 extra words given on ”Spelling city”.

Weekly Learning objectives

This week we will:

In Numeracy: Read and write numbers with up to 7-digits, understanding what each digit represents; work systematically to find out how many numbers round to 5000000; solve subtraction of 5- and 6-digit numbers using written column method (decomposition).

In Literacy:

  • Produce a recipe for a hero and discuss the attributes of a hero.
  • Ask and answer questions in role.
  • Write in role a character’s inner dialogue.
  • Read aloud and draw inferences justifying them with evidence from the book.

Homework 20/01/17

Dear students,

Your Homework for next week is:

In Numeracy: Find tasks allocated in your ActiveLearn accounts http://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk                                                                       Complete these tasks before Thursday the 26th of January. Additionally, visit mathletics and practise any area from fractions and percentages to empower your learning.

In Literacy: Complete your Super heroes posters at home. Add captions or words to describe the qualities of your super hero or heroine around the outline of your sketch. Which are the qualities and values you have given your super hero/heroine? Which inner strengths make them so special?

In IPC:  Organise your teams and plan how you will design your calendar for our Competition in upper primary. Start capturing unique pictures of nature around you or use interesting ones from your personal resources or internet. The due date for your calendars to be presented to our ‘studio head’ (Head of school and Head of Primary) is on Wednesday the 1st of February. 

Additional task: Draw a map of your home country. Draw the outline and pin the capital and other interesting cities. Investigate and list the particular features of your home country, e.g. climate, mountains, rivers, lakes, fields, plants & animals. Your presentation should be on an A3 piece of paper. You can present it in your class on the 24th of January. 

Spellings: Find your spellings of your group on the website below. Enjoy practising your spellings and investigating the meaning of new words through a variety of tasks given on the website.

  • Divide unit fractions by whole numbers and begin to divide non-unit fractions by whole number
  • Solve word problems involving fractions and revise converting improper fractions to whole numbers
  • Complete our Numeracy Assessments for the end of the term. Discuss and investigate our comprehension on the objectives covered over the last term.

In Literacy:

  • Complete our Writing and Reading Comprehension Assessments.

Homework 13/01/16

Dear students,

Your Homework for next week is:

In Numeracy:

  • Complete the worksheet you were given on Friday. Give answers in your Homework book.
  • Sign in your ActiveLearn accounts and complete tasks allocated in your accounts.

In Literacy:

  • Read 4 & 5th Chapter (until page 90) of our focus book again. Underline and investigate meanings of unknown words.
  • Choose 4 new, ‘wow’ words to create interesting sentences in the Past Tense in your Homework book.

In IPC:

We have just introduced our new topic: ”What a Wonderful World”.

Natural forces have been shaping our planet for many billions of years and these dramatic changes are still going on, right now, all around us. Throughout this unit we will be learning more about the physical processes that shape our planet – and the vital role that we play in safeguarding our planet and its resources for future generations.

  • Start collecting images from the natural world for your new exciting project you were introduced on Friday 13th of January 2017!

Your Literacy & Numeracy Homework is due to Wednesday 18th January 2016.

Welcome back everyone!!

I wish you all had a wonderful holiday and may we all have a fantastic new Year! 🙂 🙂

Our focus for this week is:

In Numeracy:

  • Use mental strategies to find simple percentages of amounts of money
  • Multiply fractions less than 1 by whole numbers, converting improper fractions to whole numbers;
  • use commutativity to efficiently multiply fractions by whole numbers;
  • divide unit and non-unit fractions by whole numbers;

In Literacy:

  • We will investigate and understand the purpose of propaganda posters
  • We ill use persuasive and emotive language to produce a propaganda poster
  • Discuss the attributes of a hero
  • Read and interpret texts; ask questions to improve understanding
