Numeracy Lesson information

Dear Parents,

As you know, all of the children from Year 1 to Year6 take part in an annual InCAS assessment. We use the data to further improve the teaching and learning within the school. We have now created three age appropriate numeracy challenge groups.

This will involve the students from Year 3 to Year 6. It means that all of the numeracy lessons in these year groups will be taught at the same time- 9.15-10.15.

We believe that by teaching in these InCAS age appropriate groups we can maximise the learning of our students. We will continue to develop the confidence of the students in numeracy and meet their individual needs.

The new numeracy groups will begin on Monday 9th February. We will regularly review, evaluate and assess the progress of the children enabling flexibility of movement between groups.

We are very excited to be trialing this new initiative at the ISB and hope to see the positive effects on the progress and confidence of our students in numeracy.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Hagenaars, Mrs Allinson or Mr Scragg if you have any queries.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind Regards

Mrs Hagenaars, Mrs Allinson and Mr Scragg

Mathletics Challenge!

I don’t know about the children but I am totally exhausted after today’s Dips Mathletics competition!
They all did amazingly well with some super results.
Years two, three and five came first in their age categories, MYP 1 came second, Year four came fourth and year sixth came sixth! The children concentrated well and really tried their best.
As the subject leader for Mathematics I’m so proud of them all
Young Lu from MYP 1 deserves an extra special mention as he came 2nd fastest in the whole competition, out of 1000 students, with an unbelievable 78 questions per minute ! Wow!
Now that this competition is finished please don’t stop using live Mathletics as it really enhances your mental Maths skills.
Also, World Maths day is only 7 weeks away……come on ISB after today’s amazing results we are ready to take on the World!
