This week we started a new Power of Reading book called Tanka, Tanka, Skunk. Their names sound like drums together! This book focuses on rhythm and syllables. We have had lots of fun clapping out the syllables of the different animal names.
For our IPC topic Food, we made popcorn cones from paper and learnt how popcorn is made. We listened to it popping in the microwave and ate some in our homemade cinema! We will be trying different cheeses today.
Thank you to those who came to the parents evening on Thursday, it was great to see you all. If you weren’t able to meet me then, please let me know and we can arrange a date and time for another meeting.
Rhyme Time will be on again today at 2.30pm (and every Friday) if you would like to join us in singing some songs.
Have a great weekend,
Just a quick reminder not to forgot to bring in library books tomorrow for our weekly library session 🙂
Another great week this week.
We got to use our Handa’s Surprise story map to tell the story to an audience. Year 1, year 3 and Miss Everson came to watch us. All of the children got a special sticker from Miss Everson for doing a great job 🙂
We made flapjacks on Wednesday and we made tangerine ice lollies yesterday for part of our IPC – We are hoping they are frozen for today!
Don’t forget it’s library day today.
Have a great weekend,
We’ve had another great week this week.
We have been learning to retell Handa’s Surprise using our story map and exploring autumn conkers and leaves.
Next week we will be starting Rhyme Time on Friday at 2.30pm-2.45pm. This will be a weekly session for parents to come and spend time singing with their children. Please feel free to bring younger children with you.
If you have not already, could you please bring in wellies, rain gear and spare clothes for your child – thank you.
Have a great weekend,
We went to the library for the first time this year last Friday afternoon.
Each child got to take a book of their choice out of the library using their own library card!
The books can be returned this Friday and the children can choose another book to bring home for the week.
We hope they enjoy it.
Hello everybody and welcome to Nursery!
We’ve had a great first couple of weeks and the children are settling in well.
We have been looking at the story Handa’s Surprise and thinking about the different fruits. We tasted mango, pineapple, tangerine, avocado, passion-fruit and banana. We also had great fun making fruit kebabs!
We have been talking about cafes and the children have been helping us to set up a cafe role play area!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday!
Just a quick reminder:
Please can everyone bring in a plain white t-shirt for decorating on sports day (4th July)
Our new IPC topic Sand and Water will be starting on Monday. In our Nursery classroom, we will be reading, exploring and learning about lots of interesting animals and things around this great topic. Also, we will be going on a beach trip very soon so parents, do not forget to let us know if you are going. We have posted a sign-in sheet at the door with the information. See us in our class to talk more about the trip and of course our class parent, Gealle.
Very soon we will be starting a new IPC topic, Shopping. We will begin this theme with a visit to the local supermarket, Tuesday 1st March 2016. We are looking for parents who are able to assist us on the trip. All children will need to bring a booster seat to allow safe travel too and from the supermarket. If you are interested in coming along, please see our lovely class parent, Gealle.
Mrs van der Weijden
We are pleased to inform you that Sinterklaas will be visiting the International School Breda on Friday 4th December for the very first time.
A last minute change in Sinterklaas’ programme means that our children no longer need to go to and from the Dr de Visser school and we will be able to welcome Sinterklaas in the safety and comfort of our very own school. This also has the additional benefit that all ISB Primary children will be able to take part in the celebration. Naturally as we are no longer walking from the Dr de Visser school, parents do not need to be present.
Children may arrive at school at the usual time, to ensure that everyone is there to greet Sint when he arrives. We apologise for this last minute change of plan and hope that this does not cause any inconvenience.
We would like to remind parents that school finishes at 12pm on Friday and that the Primary school is closed in the afternoon.
