Our class project
We are making a class book of first words. Please could you write your childs first word on a piece of paper for them to bring back to school. Also, please can you send a photograph of your child as a baby or toddler to school.
This week we are starting our new Power of reading book. The book is called Knuffel Bunny’ and is written by Mo Willems. This unusual picture book blends cartoon like illustrations with evocative black and white photographs of Brooklyn. It tells the story of how ‘Knuffle Bunny’ gets lost on a trip to the laundromat with Trixie and Dad. Trixie’s attempts to alert Dad are unsuccessful, until Mum realises Knuffle Bunny is missing and the family go back to the laundromat to rescue the missing toy.
We would like to invite the children to bring in their most favorite toy or stuffed animal for show-and-tell on thursday. This could be something that they have had since they were a baby or something that they care about very much. For some, this may be a blanket or book, for others, a toy. During the show-and-tell, the children will speak about why the object is so important to them.
