Hello everybody,

It has been a short week this week as school is closed tomorrow for teacher training.

This week we have finished our work on Biscuit Bear by changing some of the words to make our own story about Biscuit Dog!  We have been busy using our phonic skills to try to read and write small words and sentences.

In numeracy we have been learning about money.  We focused on Euros and Cent.  We learnt the names of each coin and used them to buy things.  If you are out shopping with your child this weekend ask them to help you to find the coins that you need.

We have been busy practicing our songs for the Christmas concert on the 9th December.  We have now allocated the parts to the children (although the children have not yet been told.)  Our parent helpers will be in touch with you shortly to let you know what your child will be and how you can help them to prepare a costume.

I hope you all have a lovely long weekend.

Kind regards,

Miss Johnson.

Hello everybody,

I hope you have all had a good week and than the children who went to the disco had a fantastic time.  I know that they were all very excited because they have been talking about it all day.

I would like to say a big thank you to Ines’s mum who led Rhyme Time for us today.  We had a Portuguese Rhyme Time today complete with songs, a flag and cookies.  If you would like to have a turn at leading Rhyme Time in your home language please let us know.

This week we have continued our work on Biscuit Bear.  The children are now experts at retelling this story.  We will be doing our final week on this book next week.

In numeracy we talked about months and seasons.  This would be an excellent thing to talk about with the children at home especially as we are moving from autumn to winter.

We have been starting to learn our Christmas songs for the Christmas concert on the 9th December.  Not long to go now!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Miss Johnson.

Hello everybody,

The weather has certainly taken a turn this week and it is getting much colder.  I hope you have all managed to stay warm and cosy.  Despite this change in the weather we have still be going to play outside regularly.  Your child is given the opportunity to play outside regularly throughout the day in addition to break time and lunch time.  Please make sure that they come to school appropriately dressed with a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves/mittens.

We have continued with our work on Biscuit Bear.  We made our own biscuit bears but unfortunately they were eaten by Bongo the dog (which is exactly what happens in the story!) however we still managed to decorate and eat some biscuits despite them not being bear shaped.

This weekend Sinterklaas will be arriving in Breda.  He arrives on his steam boat from Spain with his assistants Zwarte Pieten with lots of pepernoten (small spiced biscuits) for the children.  It is a fantastic experience that shouldn’t be missed.  We have been talking about his arrival in our Dutch lesson this week.

Wishing you all a pepernoten filled weekend,

Miss Johnson.

Hello everybody,

Welcome back after the holidays.  It feels good to be back into the school routine again.  I hope that you all have a fantastic holiday and are ready for the next half term.

This week we have started a new IPC topic ‘All About Me’ and a new Power of Reading book ‘Biscuit Bear’.  Next week we are hoping to make our own biscuit bears and we are hoping that Bongo the Dog will not eat them!  In numeracy this week we talked about height and length and also about capacity (full, half full and empty).

This week the children from Year 3 came to read a story to us in Dutch about a very busy spider.  We enjoyed it so much we asked them to read it twice.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Miss Johnson.
