Probability and Statistics Reflection

Hey everyone,

In this unit, we learnt about ‘Probability and Statistics’. So we were learning about pie charts, bar charts and converting fractions. When were doing this in class I found it very easy to do. The moment I got the end of the unit test I got quite confused. I studied the review set of the unit and read over my homework of that unit, but the things that I studied weren’t in the test. So I tried to make educated guesses or I tried to figure out the formula. After all, I think I could’ve have done better.

Self Assessment Bim Bang Boom Unit 3

  1.  How am I doing?

My grade of the end of the unit test was a 4. I think that I am doing ok because I’m not failing. However, I think that I can achieve higher grades but this is because I find science quite hard at some stages.

  1.  What am I good at?

I am good at handing in homework in time.

  1.  How do I know I am good at these things?

I know this because it is not that hard to hand in homework in time because normally you know when to do it. Also, it is on managebac which I check everyday.

  1.  What do I need to work on?

I find it hard to remember what I studied for a test. This is because I’m nervous and I hesitate about my answer and then after the test, I usually remember the answer to a question I didn’t know. I think this is because of the pressure when you do a test but that is of course, normal.

  1.  How do I know that I need to work on these things?

I know this because I know when I am nervous and when I hesitate and very often I remember the correct answer. I think the worst part about tests is when it gets checked because I know my mistakes but then everyone else got it right. I have this fear especially when we mark each other’s tests.

  1.  What targets do I want to set myself?

My main target is to calm down in tests. I also want to study in a different way because right now how I find studying hard.

  1.  How am I going to achieve these targets?

I can’t really achieve the target to calm down in tests because you are always at least a little nervous for a test. The best way to handle this is to always try my hardest. I could ask some friends to help me with studying and ask how they study for tests.

  1.    What time scale am I going to set myself to complete these targets?

I would want to achieve these targets at around the end of the next unit.

  1.  Are completing self-assessments like this useful for your development in Science?

These self-assessments do help me because in self-assessments you will know exactly what you have to work on and what is hard for you. These self-assessments are really useful for improving your work.

Little Things Science Reflection

During this unit, we learned a lot of things. We learned lots of different specialised cells and how to use a microscope. In this unit, I mostly enjoyed doing the experiments. My favourite experiment we did was the cheek cells. But we also experimented with ‘elodea’ and ‘onion cells’. We learned how to hold and microscope, how to prepare a slide and how to set it up. Although these experiments were fun it was sometimes a little hard to set everything up and to prepare a slide. Learning about all the specialised cells was very interesting, but sometimes a little hard to remember everything about the cells. Honestly, I liked everything about this unit except the tests of course.

SELF ASSESSMENT – Science

My name: Pam Knierim Date: 18/11/16

The unit I have just finished is:
Unit 1 Introduction to Science

My score in the end of unit test was:
7/8

For the lab report I got: B 5 and C 5

I was happy with these results because:
for me if I get higher than a 4 then I’m happy and, because I know that I’ve tried my best.

In general:

How am I doing?
I’m doing well in my opinion, because I know that I try my best. Trying my best is all that matters isn’t it?

What I am good at?
I’m good at doing experiments.

How do I know I am good at these things?
I know, because I know what to do and it is not that difficult to do. I also know, because if I do an experiment I do it successfully.

I found the previous unit – Introduction to Science
I found the previous unit interesting, fun and easy to understand.

What I found difficult was
I found it difficult to write my lab report.

What helped me when I had a problem was to
It helped to ask the teacher if I had any problems.

What I enjoyed in this unit was
I enjoyed doing the experiments.

What I didn’t like in this unit was
I didn’t like to write a lab report.

What do I need to work on?
I need to work on making a lab report.

How do I know that I need to work on these things?
I know this, because I can get a higher score and it can always be improved.

How am I going to achieve these targets?
I’m going to achieve these targets by practising more and more.

What time scale am I going to set myself to complete these targets? –
By next year the end of January.

Are completing self-assessments like this useful for your development in Science? Why?
Yes it is, because this makes it more clear what you to improve and how, what should be improved.
